Description
The Signature range from Boru is a unique, contemporary take on tradition. Modern design meets Irish heritage.
The Ogham alphabet is the earliest form of Irish writing. The characters consist of a series of lines and notches scored across a long stem. It was usually read from bottom to top. It is named after the warrior Ogma, God of Eloquence and Literature. There are over 350 Ogham stones still standing in Ireland. The Triquetra predates Christianity and was the Celtic symbol of the Goddess Odin. The symbol decorates our illuminated manuscripts such as The Book of Kells and is found on Celtic crosses and Celtic stones all around the country.
The Trinity Knot has been adopted from ancient Celtic art by Christianity as a symbol of the Holy Trinity; Father, Son & Holy Spirit. To the Celts it is believed to have meant many things; mind, body, spirit; earth, sea and sky and beginning, middle and end - continuity. The Trinity Knot is the most well known and loved of all Celtic knots and in modern times has been given as a token of promise; to love, to honour and to protect.
Boru has created a unique range of Ogham jewellery translating traditional Irish love quotes into this ancient alphabet. 'Mo Anam Cara' - My Soul Mate - is written in the ancient Ogham alphabet on this ring and is decorated to the sides by the Trinity knot. The design on this ring goes 3/4 way around the band.
