Description
In this sterling Claddagh ring, embellishments of diamonds and tiny rounds of silver curve around a lovely 10 karat solid gold heart. The crown, patterned with decorative etchings, sits atop the heart in regal pride. ShanOre craftsmen have carefully carved the words of the Claddagh promise Love, Loyalty, and Friendship into the band, so that the wearer can think about this time-honored message.
Notes on the Claddagh
Multiple versions of the Claddagh story exist. One involves a woman who dedicated so much time to charity work, that as a reward, an eagle dropped the ring from the sky and into her lap. Another tells of a prince who fell in love with a common maid and crafted the ring in order to win her fathers marriage blessing. The most plausible tale is about Richard Joyce of Galway, Ireland, who was kidnapped by slave traders on his way to the West Indies to find work. When he was finally released by his master, a goldsmith under which Joyce had learned countless skills, Joyce returned to Galway and gave the ring to his beloved, whom he had left behind so many years before. The hands of the Claddagh represent friendship; the heart, love; and the crown, loyalty.
The Warmth of a Golden Heart
Everyone knows a person who inspires others with her ability to quell her own needs in order to secure someone else happiness. This person virtually glows from the inside out, embracing her company with her graciousness and wrapping them in her warmth. She refrains from making too many judgments. She values her blessings and tries hard not to complain, as she understands her good fortune. Like the heart on this Claddagh ring, which seems to reverberate with affection, this womans heart reaches out to gather others close to it.
